Our overnight Pallay Punchu trek with Palccoyo is an excellent opportunity to view some of the best scenery in Cusco! Escape the standard tourism circuits, and experience a little of what authentic Peru has to offer on this active two day, one night adventure.
Day one begins with early morning departure from Cusco for Pallay Punchu, the most remote & interactive of the colorful “rainbow mountains” in the area. In contrast to Vinicunca (THE Rainbow Mountain) and Palccoyo, trekking Pallay Punchu includes climbing to it’s peak and walking along the top, taking in amazing views in every direction!
You’ll spend the evening with a host family near the Inca ruins of Raqchi, with activities and meals included.
After breakfast the following morning, begin the trip back to Cusco. Along the way, you’ll stop to explore Palccoyo, a second rainbow mountain in the area. Hike to the stone forest overlooking the colorful area and take in the wonderful scenery before heading back to your Cusco hotel!
Morning departure from your Cusco hotel for the Pallay Punchu trek departure point. Along the way, we’ll stop for a filling buffet breakfast. The trek up Pallay Punchu is about 1.5 hours, with Laguna Langui stretching below. Most of the ascent will be across dramatic red and black stone, until the final leg. Here, multicolored stripes will appear, bent and twisted into the ridges that run along the mountaintop.
We’ll follow the trail along the mountaintop, taking in views of the surrounding mountains and lake, then descend to our lunch spot. From there, head to Raqchi to meet your homestay family. Spend the evening getting to know your hosts and enjoying dinner with them.

After breakfast, say goodbye to your homestay family and continue to Palccoyo. A second rainbow mountain, Palccoyo displays a range of beautiful colors in a distinct way. Hike to the Stone Forest for excellent views of the mountain and its surroundings before lunch. After lunch, return to Cusco.
